Oceanside Heritage Park Wedding: Travis and Jessica

Once a year or so, I get the opportunity to DJ for long time friends. I am always a fan of these weddings. Nostalgia, low stress and most importantly I get to make sure that a DJ with lots of experience and enthusiasm (myself) makes my friends wedding all that it can be. Working with Travis and Jessica was awesome. Not only did I get to know Jessica a bit more, I got to reconnect with so many friends that I haven't seen in a while. Travis, Josh, Joe, Ashleigh, Mike... the list goes on. Everytime I see these guys, I ask myself... "Why don't we hang out more?". I hope they ask themselves the same thing, when they run into me.

Funny how things pan out. I remember the first time I met Travis at Vista High School. Pretty sure he wouldn't have believed me if I walked up to him and said "One day you will fall in love with a girl named Jessica, and one day I'll DJ your wedding". That was 14 years ago that I met Travis!!! That's half of my life I've known this guy, so what an honor to be DJ for him on his wedding day.

Travis, Jessica and I met at The Yellow Deli in Vista to discuss many of the music and itinerary details. I hadn't worked at Heritage park for a wedding before--some years ago I DJ'd a local political event, a fundraiser of sorts in the gazebo, but never a full blown wedding. Luckily my friend Steve from Bluewave Photo had shot a wedding there, so I was able to get some insight on the layout by viewing his blog. Travis and Jessica wanted to ensure they had some good music, Reggae for Cocktail and Dinner hour, and then some classics, Top 40 and newer music for the dancing portion. I of course had to reminisce and put on some late 90's Techno for the crowd, they know why. No need for me to explain it here!

Travis is one of the nicest guys you can possibly meet. He always has been, something tells me he always will be. He never has anything negative to say, and he always looks for the best in those around him. I think it's so fitting that someone like this, found such a perfect counterpart, Jessica. For me the most memorable part about their wedding day, was witnessing how in love Jessica and Travis are. No matter how many Weddings I DJ, this never seems to get old. Thanks Travis and Jessica for allowing me to be a part of your wedding day!
